Intro to Web — HTML and CSS

Structure pages with HTML and style them with CSS — guided sessions on one café website

Sixteen guided sessions build a complete mental model of building websites, all on one small café website (the Harbor Café) you will assemble page by page. Start with how the web works and HTML structure (elements, attributes, the document skeleton), then master text and semantic markup, lists, links and paths, images, tables, forms, and the HTML5 layout elements that name a page's regions. The CSS half begins with rules, selectors, and the cascade, then colour and typography, the box model, styling lists/tables/forms, and layout — flow, positioning, and floats, then flexbox and CSS Grid. Finish with responsive design (viewport, media queries, mobile-first) and a capstone that assembles the full café page with a wireframe-to-code process. Every session is build-by-hand: you write each element, rule, box computation, and layout on paper before checking reveals, with auto-graded quizzes.
